Since Frank Ocean released his second studio album Blonde in August, questions have remained about which artists contributed to the album’s 17 tracks. A list of “album contributors” found in Ocean’s “Boys Don’t Cry” magazine credited David Bowie, Kanye West, Jamie xx, Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, the Beatles, Pharrell, Elliott Smith, and many more. The Recording Academy on Monday announced 25 new musical works that will be added to the Grammy Hall of Fame, including pieces by Prince, David Bowie, Nirvana, N.W.A and more.
“The Grammy Hall of Fame represents all genres of music, acknowledging the diversity of musical expression for which The Academy has become renowned,” said The Recording Academy president and CEO Neil Portnow in a statement. “Memorable and inspiring, these recordings are proudly added to our growing catalog and are an integral part of our musical, social and cultural history.”
The selected singles and album recordings are all at least 25 years old to meet requirements for selection, spanning genres. Among those artists listed above, they…

Nirvana‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” David Bowie‘s “Changes,” R.E.M.‘s “Losing My Religion,” Elvis Presley‘s “Jailhouse Rock” and Prince‘s Sign ‘O’ the Times are among the 25 recordings that will be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame as part of their Class of 2017.
N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton, the Beach Boys’ “I Get Around,” Jackson 5’s “ABC” and Sly & The Family Stone’s “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)” are among the diverse group of inductees, which also includes TV themes (Lalo Schifrin’s “Mission Impossible), country (Merle Haggard’s Okie From Muskogee, Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make Your Love Me”) and early Sixties pop (Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me,” Dion’s “The Wanderer”).
