Why The Last Jedi’s Rian Johnson And Mark Hamill Want You To Avoid The Trailers
Two years ago, Star Wars: The Force Awakens kept everyone on their toes by revealing as little new footage as possible in new trailers. Now, Star Wars: The Last Jedi seems to be following suit. Details about the highly anticipated sequel have trickled out at a slow rate, but even that might be too much for director Rian Johnson. Johnson recently urged fans not to watch any new trailers for The Last Jedi and Mark Hamill seconds that opinion. The two are telling everyone to go into the movie as blind as possible to make the experience all the sweeter.
Rian Johnson has little control over the marketing of the big budget studio film he directed. But if he did, he probably wouldn’t release any more trailers for the movie. He said as much on Twitter, telling fans that they should avoid everything they can from now until December (it ain’t all about trailer views).
