After teasing all day Tuesday of an impending big announcement for their impassioned fanbase — and trending heavily in anticipation of and with same — the dashing young lads of One Direction finally shared with their ever-attentive faithful the “big news.”
2013 came to a close a few weeks back, and the many, many “year-end,” “wrap-up” and “top 10, 20, etc.” lists that started popping up around Halloween-time have finally started to abate, just in time for us to enter award season.
It had to come to this eventually. The Internet loves nothing more than it loves this kind of thing, and nothing on Earth right now is more “this kind of thing” than British pop singing group One Direction.
In terms of Internet buzz these days, nothing or no one — not the U.S. Congress, not the NFL, not the world soccer stage, not a single television program, actor, or other musical performer — more consistently draws heat than One Direction.
