Demonstrations during the national anthem took center stage around the NFL last week after President Donald Trump made negative comments about the individuals choosing to kneel.

This week, Lions owner Martha Ford asked her team to remain standing during the anthem before a matchup against the Vikings, according to The Detroit Free Press.

The report stated that days before Sunday’s game, Ford and the team talked about doing something other than kneeling during the anthem. She also told the team she would “donate both money and her name to community issues” of the players’ choosing.
