Jim Carrey Hosts Halloween SNL

This week’s Saturday Night Live — the fourth installment of the program’s landmark 40th season — featured comedian Jim Carrey; returning to 30 Rock to host for the third time, and to promote his upcoming Dumb and Dumber To.

With a Halloween theme running throughout, and sketches spanning from a Carrey family reunion populated by a number of people behaving like Jim Carrey (really), to an elaborately staged tribute to Sia’s video and YouTube sensation, “Chandelier,” the show — while not phoned in, by any means — never really hit a home run.

That is, except for in one series of pre-filmed sequences, running throughout the show, lampooning Matthew McConaughey‘s recent Lincoln car ads (themselves already a bit of a riff on McConaughey’s turn in HBO‘s True Detective).

Rapper Iggy Azalea was the musical guest, and did what she does.
