Today, Morrissey has announced on official fan site True to You that the final six shows of his U.S. tour have been cancelled, after previously postponing them in November. In his note, he cites difficulties with the tour’s management company 360 Management, who’ve controlled the tour’s finances since August. He says that…

At least nine people were killed and over a dozen unaccounted for after a fire broke out at a party in an Oakland, California warehouse late Friday night.
According to a Facebook event page, the warehouse on the corner of 31st Avenue and International Boulevard in the city’s Fruitvale neighborhood was hosting musician Golden Donna’s 100% Silk tour.
Authorities say at least 50 people were in the building at the time of the three-alarm blaze.
“We still have to do a more thorough search of the building and we don’t know the potential number of other victims,” Oakland Fire Chief Teresa Deloche-Reed told the East Bay Times. “This is a true loss for the city, for the firefighters who responded, and the people who…
A decision from the UK High Court of Justice today has ruled against Duran Duran over the band’s attempt to reclaim, stateside, the publishing copyrights on over three dozen songs including some of their most well-known hits, “Hungry Like the Wolf.”
United States copyright law allows for the authors of works to terminate copyrights they had assigned, usually to a publisher (in Duran Duran’s case the company Tritec Music Ltd., now Sony/ATV) after a period of 35 years, a provision designed to give artists a stab at receiving payment in the late life of their work. In 2014, Duran Duran attempted to take advantage of that provision, which in turn generated a lawsuit against them and the band members’ various holding companies.
Sony Music, which refused to comment to Billboard on the decision, argued that the original publishing agreements between the band’s members and their publishing company made those agreements subject solely to British law, and that the contracts also reverted any…
Jay Z and Timbaland won big last fall during a copyright trial over “Big Pimpin,'” but their attorneys are on the offensive again, claiming an appeal of the decision is filled with illegitimate grievances and exacerbated by a reference to the KKK.
The legal battle began in 2007, when the heir of Egyptian composer Baligh Hamdy sued the duo, along with just about every individual and company associated with the 1999 song. The heir, Osama Fahmy, claimed “Big Pimpin'” infringed on his rights to Hamdy’s 1957 song “Khosara Khosara” by sampling it without permission.
Last fall, U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder stopped the trial before the jury could deliberate, finding Fahmy didn’t have standing to pursue the claims because he had given up his rights in the work. In February, she entered her final judgment and dismissed the suit with prejudice.
Fahmy appealed the ruling in August. In a 64-page opening brief, attorney Keith Wesley argues that the district court erred in finding Fahmy lacked standing to sue.
Wesley says Fahmy licensed “Khosara Khosara” to another Egyptian man named Mohsen Jaber, but reserved the right to approve derivative works — albeit through Egyptian law instead of…

Sorry, DC fans; This one is going to hurt. After speculation that Warner Bros. may push Aquaman’s release date up, fans have just learned the opposite has happened. According to a report by Deadline, the much-anticipated movie will make its way into theaters on October 5, 2018 rather than in July.
Pre-production on Aquaman is already well underway as director James Wan has been sharing possible shooting locations with fans online. Just yesterday, the working title for the film was also made public thanks to Production Weekly. The film, which is being produced under the name ‘Ahab,’ looks like it has plenty left to do before Aquaman swims into cinemas.
Of course, this news many surprise some fans. Many had believed Warner Bros. would move upAquaman’s release because of recent issues plaguing The Flash. The latter recently lost yet another director after Rick Famuyiwa parted from the project, so fans had hoped Aquaman may move up to take its release date.
Instead, Aquaman is now sitting in a date once left blank by Warner Bros. The date has been on the studio’s release schedule…
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have spent their entire marriage juggling busy schedules, managing bicoastal business obligations and traveling around the globe, so it’s safe to say they’re accustomed to operating without one strict home base. And though the parents of two have been steady supporters of each other since marrying in May 2014, they haven’t always been able to stand — or sleep — side by side.
To Grandmother’s House They Go
Though the Wests have an expansive real estate portfolio, they’ve spent very little family time enjoying their two California proprties.
After purchasing an $11 million Bel-Air mansion in early 2013, they planned to temporarily take up residence in momager Kris Jenner‘s Calabasas home while they upgraded their Italian-style villa. But after daughter North, now 3, was born, the couple remained at Jenner’s.
In 2014, they bought a second home closer to Jenner — a $20 million estate in Hidden Hills, California, where they planned to settle down once those renovations were complete.
“When we bought our Bel-Air house, we didn’t have a baby, we weren’t even pregnant,” Kardashian West told PEOPLE at the time. “After you have a baby, you realize that you need so many other things and a different kind of space. So being in the city is a different life. We wanted to be away and have more privacy.”
In September 2015, while their Hidden Hills home remained under renovation, the Wests
An infographic showing the ways in which this month’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story connects with other properties in the franchise has provoked speculation that there’s more than meets the eye about the prequel to 1977’s original Star Wars movie. Could there really be a hidden connection between Rogue One and next year’s Star Wars: Episode VIII?
What caused the speculation was a timeline map of the Star Wars properties from Entertainment Weekly, which connects Gareth Edwards’ upcoming movie not only with Star Wars: A New Hope and the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars — where the character of Saw Gerrera, played by Forest Whitaker in the movie, debuted — but also with 2017’s Episode VIII, without any explanation.
It’s possible that the red line connecting the two projects is a mistake, or merely an indicator of where Rogue One falls in the production timeline… or, alternately, there’s a chance that there really is some mythology connecting the two movies.
Cynically, this is a smart move — laying groundwork for the much-anticipated next installment of the “main saga” movies in the first of the standalone spin-offs signals to the audience that the Star Wars Story movies “matter” to the bigger picture, driving attendance. Building…
