May the Fourth Be With You
While the pun can be traced back to the late-70s, the first formal celebration of this holiday — which commemorates all things related to the billion dollar brainchild of George Lucas (PeekYou profile here) — took place at a movie theater in Toronto, in 2011; and, thanks to our beloved Internet and its obsession with all things nerdy, it’s really snowballed since then.
Interest in the day this year will be especially strong, as Disney‘s J.J. Abrams (PeekYou profile here) directed Star Wars: Episode VII is about to go into production.
Earlier this week a number of the film’s cast members were announced, and to the thrill of many fans the list included the leads from the original Star Wars trilogy; Mark Hamill (PeekYou profile here), Carrie Fisher (PeekYou profile here), Harrison Ford (PeekYou profile here), Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, and Peter Mayhew.
Further announcements are expected today, SO WATCH THIS SPACE.
Other names included in this much ballyhooed announcement were, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, and Max von Sydow.
You can keep up with the developments surrounding this eagerly awaited, and wildly speculated over, flick via the many PeekYou profiles linked to above; populated as they are with personal homepages, business pages, fan pages, social pages, videos, photos, articles, interviews, and much more.
And now, enjoy the original trailer — with incomplete special effects, and before the logo was designed or John Williams’ immortal score was finalized — of the film they now call Episode IV, but which is more colloquially known as plain old Star Wars.
