Freddie Prinze, Jr. Evidently Unimpressed with Kiefer Sutherland
The quick rundown of events goes like this: On Monday, TMZ ran a story sharing that relatively scarce 90s heartthrob, Freddie Prinze, Jr. made some slightly disparaging comments about his former 24 co-star, Kiefer Sutherland. The comments were made at last week’s San Diego Comic Con, during an interview with ABC News Radio.
What Prinze said was in reference to why he mostly left acting for a few years. “I did 24 … it was terrible. I hated every moment of it. I just wanted to quit the business after that. So, I just sort of stopped,” he said. He then added about the program’s star, “Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That’s not me talking trash, I’d say it to his face. I think everyone that’s worked with him has said that.”
The story went rapidly viral. As such, it didn’t take long for the Sutherland camp to respond. A representative for Kiefer told ABC News, “Kiefer worked with Freddie Prinze, Jr. more than 5 years ago, and this is the first he has heard of Freddie’s grievances. The rep even added, “Kiefer enjoyed working with Freddie and wishes him the best.”
An unnamed FOX representative is quoted by TMZ as adding in Sutherland’s defense that he was “nothing but professional during the run of the show and is beloved by cast and crew. It’s so out of left field, 5 years later. We wouldn’t have done another 24 if Kiefer were anything like Freddie described.”
Prinze currently does voice over work — such as in the new Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels, which he was in San Diego last week to promote — and also has in recent years worked for WWE, as a producer and director.
