Miranda Lambert Named Country Music Hall of Fame’s Artist in Residence

Miranda Lambert will be the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s 15th artist-in-residence.
Chris Pizzello/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock Miranda Lambert has been named the 2018 artist-in-residence at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
With the honor, the “Keeper of the Flame” singer-songwriter becomes the youngest artist announced to the position and only the third woman.
She’ll perform a pair of intimate concerts in September at the CMA Theater located inside the Hall of Fame building in downtown Nashville.
“The history that the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum holds is so important,” Lambert said in a statement.
“It’s truly an honor to be named artist-in-residence for the museum.
Other past artists-in-residence include Connie Smith, Rosanne Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Alan Jackson and Kenny Rogers.
Traditionally, the accompanying concerts highlight different aspects of the featured artist’s career.
Isbell, for instance, performed three shows in 2017, one with his band the 400 Unit, one with wife Amanda Shires and one with an array of guests, including Emmylou Harris and Gillian Welch.
Lambert’s two concerts are set for September 19th and 26th.

Prince Louis’ godparents named, including Prince William and Prince Harry’s friend, Nicholas van Cutsem

Prince Louis, the youngest child of Prince William and Duchess Kate will be christened at St. James’ Palace.
USA TODAY Prince William and Prince Harry’s close friend, Nicholas van Cutsem, and Duchess Kate’s cousin, Lucy Middleton, were named two of Prince Louis of Cambridge’s six godparents Monday, ahead of his christening in the Chapel Royal of St. James’s Palace in London, where brother Prince George was baptized in 2013.
The 11-week-old baby prince, born April 23, is the third child of Prince William and Duchess Kate of Cambridge, and the fifth in line to the throne.
He will be christened in a traditionally private ceremony in the chapel with a small party of his royal and Middleton relatives in attendance, plus the godparents.
The baby prince will wear the handmade replica of the Royal Christening Robe.
Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, and his wife, Duchess Camilla of Cornwall, will be there to see his third grandchild welcomed into the Church of England, which the queen heads.
Prince George’s seven godparents included old family friends, a royal cousin, college pals and loyal staff.
The best known is Zara Phillips Tindall, Will’s cousin, eldest granddaughter to the queen and daughter of Princess Anne, the Princess Royal.
Married to ex-rugby star Mike Tindall, Zara just gave birth to their second child, named Lena Elizabeth, who is the queen’s seventh great-grandchild.
Laura Fellowes, a cousin to William, is the daughter of Lady Jane Fellowes, Diana’s sister; she gave a reading at Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

Phil Mickelson hit with another penalty for rules violation at Greenbrier

SportsPulse: USA TODAY Sports’ Steve DiMeglio discusses Tiger Woods’ ascension this season.
USA TODAY Sports On the heels of his bizarre breach of conduct last month at the U.S. Open, Phil Mickelson was hit with another penalty during Sunday’s final round of this week’s PGA Tour event in West Virginia.
Mickelson was on the seventh tee at A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier when he tamped down some grass in front of the tee box.
Mickelson was forced to call a two-stroke penalty on himself.
Mickelson said he “wasn’t really thinking.”
However, he could have avoided the issue altogether.
Since he hadn’t yet hit his shot, he could have simply moved the ball somewhere else in the tee box where the grass wouldn’t have been in his line.
The penalty resulted in Mickelson carding a double-bogey instead of a par on the hole.
At the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills last month, Mickelson used his putter to stop a ball that was about to roll off the 13th green, a move he called “clearly not my finest moment.”
He was assessed a two-stroke penalty and ended up shooting an 81.
