In Honor of Nelson Mandela International Day

Who Called Me?
Today, July 18th, is Nelson Mandela International Day.

The day was inspired by a call its namesake made to the younger generation, in 2008, to address the world’s social injustices and ills; saying, “it is in your hands now.”

As the occasion’s official website states:

It is more than a celebration of Madiba’s life and legacy. It is a global movement to honour his life’s work and act to change the world for the better.

Nelson Mandela (PeekYou profile here), who passed away in 2013, was far too great a man for us to do his extraordinary life even a modicum of justice on our little blog. We wanted to, however, mark this occasion honoring his memory and legacy.

Rather than offer a synopsis of the man’s incredible 95-year journey — a testament to courage, righteousness, and tenacity, if ever there was one — we’ll simply direct you to his WikiPedia page.
