Yankees Sign Masahiro Tanaka for $155 Million

Tanaka
While PeekYou’s hometown (and technically entire hemisphere) is still in the midst of winter — and anticipating an impending Super Bowl and Winter Olympics — before we know it pitchers and catchers will be reporting again for spring training. One pitcher reporting for the New York Yankees this spring will be 25 year old, Japanese starter Masahiro Tanaka (PeekYou profile here).

Last season Tanaka went 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA for Japan’s Rakuten Golden Eagles. The Yanks have gambled big on their belief that his skills will translate to the majors, having signed Masahiro to a 7 year contract, said to be worth $155 million.

The Internet has, as the Internet will do, a whole lot to say on the subject. A great way to start seeing what those things are, as well as just learning about Tanaka and his life and career to date, is visiting his PeekYou profile.
