Yankee Legend, Mariano Rivera

Jesse Lingard
During a pregame ceremony before the last regular season, day home game of his 19 year Major League Baseball career, the great relief pitcher Mariano Rivera was honored by the New York Yankees.

The ceremony, which took place on September 22, included a performance from the mega-platinum rock band Metallica, and the symbolic retiring of Rivera’s number (42, which was actually retired from all of baseball 16 years ago, in honor or Jackie Robinson, with Rivera the last active player to still be wearing it).
