The name of late jazz giant, Billie Holiday (PeekYou profile here), is trending today. While the cause — a viral video clip of an admittedly very talented 7-year old girl singing “Gloomy Sunday” — isn’t quite worthy of the comparison, any reason to blog of Billie Holiday is fine with us.

Angelina Jordan Astar, the above referenced 7-year old, appeared on Norwegian TV show Norway’s Got Talent this week and gave a quite entertaining and precocious reading of the notoriously melancholy standard, imitating the phrasing and cadence of Ms. Holiday’s 1941 version.
