The phrase “Tris Prior Is Our Heroine” was trending globally on Twitter this evening. But what does it mean? Who is this Tris Prior? Well, you may already know, as many do, that Tris is in fact Beatrice Prior, the protagonist of The Divergent Trilogy; a series of dystopian fiction, “young adult” novels by 25 year old author, Veronica Roth (PeekYou profile here).

As with all popular genre fiction of this nature, these days, the big screen adaptation is reliably coming this spring; starring, among others, Kate Winslet.

From a critical standpoint, the books have been largely well received, if forced to live in the shadows of the extremely well regarded, and insanely popular Hunger Games novels. We can’t claim to have read Veronica’s books, but we’re not literary critics anyway. So, would it much matter what we thought?
