Tyler, the Creator Arrested at SXSW

Rapper and record producer, Tyler, the Creator (PeekYou profile here), was arrested on Saturday for allegedly starting a riot during a Thursday performance at Austin, Texas’ South By Southwest festival.

According to The Associated Press, as reported here, the 23-year old Odd Future leader was arrested on Saturday for, two days earlier, having allegedly encouraged fans to push their way into an already capacity venue at which he was performing.

Austin’s KXAN reported that Tyler had yelled into a crowd, waiting outside a packed Scoot Inn, during a Thursday afternoon performance, “All y’all outside the gates, y’all push through”; leading to a skirmish between the throngs and the venue’s employees.

The charges against him carry penalties of up to a year in jail, and a $4,000 fine.

After securing a $25,000 bond, Tyler was released by Austin authorities on Saturday, from where he went on to Dallas to play a sold out show at the House of Blues.
