‘Two and a Half-Men’ to Call it a Day

After the truly spectacular, landmark meltdown of one of its leading “men” (PeekYou profile here), and the religious conversion of — and renouncement of the entire property by — its leading “half-man,” it would seem its days have been numbered for a while.

But someone, somewhere is still bound to be surprised to learn that Two and a Half-Men has finally decided to call it a day; and will do so at the end of its twelfth, scatological-pun filled season.

The series was originally about an alcoholic womanizer, his milquetoast brother, and his milquetoast brother’s kid, sharing a house in Malibu. Also featured were the beloved misogynist stereotypes in their life; including a castrating ex-wife, obsessive stalker neighbor, and distant, condescending mother. We also believe there was a brash, sassy housekeeper.

Many, many jokes about all manner of bodily function were made, along with a gazillion dollars, before all that “tiger blood” business happened. Since then we have no idea what it’s been about, but we know Ashton Kutcher (PeekYou profile here) has been on it for something like sixteen seasons now.

When presenting CBS‘ new fall schedule on Wednesday morning, network president Nina Tassler made the announcement. No gasps were reported. She said this last run of episodes will be a “season-long finale event,” and added that creator Chuck Lorre is “very psyched about this”; in reference to what he has planned story-wise, although we suspect he’ll also be happy to say goodbye to the whole darned thing.

Someone will be watching, we’re sure.

And now, for the heck of it, a well-worn, 2011 classic from The Gregory Brothers; recalling more memorable times.
