The Queen’s Guard Plays ‘Game of Thrones’

This past week during one of the daily changing of the guard ceremonies at Queen Elizabeth II’s home of Buckingham Palace, the Queen’s Guard surprised the assembled onlookers with a performance of Ramin Djawadi’s haunting title music from HBO‘s Game of Thrones

Last month the Queen visited the Belfast set where Thrones is filmed. Below you can see Liz eyeballing the Iron Throne; in which she, sadly, never did take a seat.

And here’s the Queen’s Guard breaking with their famous stoicism for an open embrace of contemporary, if oddly apt, pop culture:
