A Christmas Story
Bob Clark’s A Christmas Story, written and narrated by the late raconteur and radio personality Jean Shepherd — and adapted from his short story collection In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash — has come to be regarded as one of the givens of the Christmas holiday season; right up there with eggnog, mistletoe, and flight delays.

While a flop in its initial theatrical release, it found a life on cable in the 80s and has grown in reputation over the past couple of decades to possibly even surpass such seasonal perennials as Miracle on 34th Street and It’s a Wonderful Life as the most popular Christmas film of all.
