The PeekScores of Super Bowl XLVIII

With all else going on in the world, vying for our attentions, the top story at the moment nevertheless remains unambiguously clear (our priorities, as a people, being what they are); Super Bowl XLVIII, and all that it encompasses and entails.

Subsequent entries may address some of the event’s other aspects and offshoots — ancillary and even apocryphal alike — but here we’re focusing on the meat of the matter, THE BIG GAME itself.

Swept up in the spirit of the season — and the various “This Bowl” and “That Bowl,” and “Bud Bowl” and “Puppy Bowl” type product tie-ins and promotions strewn across the media landscape — we’ve fashioned a crude, and highly unscientific “bowl” of our own; the PeekScore Bowl.

Below are two PeekScore lists — one for each of the teams competing in Super Bowl XLVIII — measuring and comparing the online prominence, influence, activity, and impact of each of the individuals upon them. The names featured on each list are, give or take, the 10 most famous individuals associated with each team (a noteworthy and unexpected aside, each list is topped not by a star player, but by the corresponding team’s head coach).

As this is strictly an exhibition, and dealing with cyberspace prominence and not so much (well, not at all) actual football, we’d not bet on the game based on our results here. But, we’d nonetheless be remiss if we didn’t share that the average PeekScore among these Broncos is 8.18, and the average PeekScore for the Seattle group below is 8.04. While fairly close, the winner — if this is a competition, which it totally is — is clear.

That’s the outcome, though, and jumping the gun. Check out the lists below for the “game” itself, and remember to click all the items on the lists to visit the corresponding players’ PeekYou profiles; where you’ll be led to a cornucopia of websites, social pages, videos, photos, articles, and much, much more.
