Morrissey announced Saturday that he must cancel the remaining six dates of his U.S. tour – concerts that were rescheduled dates after the singer’s keyboardist fell ill, forcing postponements – due to mismanagement of tour funds.
In a post titled “There Is a Light That Now Goes Out” on Morrissey’s fan site/mouthpiece True to You (via Stereogum), the singer revealed that he and his band are in “unrecoverable despair” after the tour’s remaining shows in Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Houston, Dallas and San Antonio were “pulled down.”
Morrissey blamed the canceled shows on the Los Angeles-based Management 360.
“Each date booked would make enough money to pay its way,” Morrissey wrote.
“When Gustavo [Manzur, keyboardist] collapsed at the Boulder show, 360 Management responded with the announcement that all funds had suddenly evaporated. There was apparently not even enough money to transport the touring party to the next scheduled city, and 360 Management faded out as quickly as they had faded in.”

A decision from the UK High Court of Justice today has ruled against Duran Duran over the band’s attempt to reclaim, stateside, the publishing copyrights on over three dozen songs including some of their most well-known hits, “Hungry Like the Wolf.”

In 2014, Duran Duran attempted to take advantage of that provision, which in turn generated a lawsuit against them and the band members’ various holding companies.
Sony Music, which refused to comment to Billboard on the decision, argued that the original publishing agreements between the band’s members and their publishing company made those agreements subject solely to British law, and that the contracts also reverted any…

Eric Clapton announced a brief run of American tour dates for 2017. The rock legend will perform at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on March 19th and 20th, followed by two shows at the Forum in Los Angeles on March 25th and 26th.
Clapton will be joined by keyboardists Walt Richmond and Chris Stainton, drummer Steve Gadd, bassist Nathan East and vocalists Sharon White and Michelle John. Blues rockers Gary Clark, Jr. and Jimmie Vaughan will serve as special guests.
The tour, which also includes a trio of May dates at London’s Royal Albert Hall, is somewhat of a surprise given Clapton’s recent attitude toward live performances. “I swear this is it, no more,” he wrote in the tour program for his run of 70th birthday shows in 2015. “I…
