RIP Peaches Geldof
Geldof — the daughter of Boomtown Rats vocalist and Live Aid organizer Bob Geldof, and late TV presenter Paul Yates — died on Monday. She left behind two young children, and her husband, musician Thomas Cohen.
At this time not much else is known, but no hard drugs or suicide note was found at the scene. Police have said, “At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained and sudden. Officers are working to establish the circumstances around the death.”
On Monday, Bob Geldof released the following, heartbreaking statement:
“Peaches has died. We are beyond pain. She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable?
We loved her and will cherish her forever. How sad that sentence is. Tom and her sons Astala and Phaedra will always belong in our family, fractured so often, but never broken.”
Peaches’ mother, Paula Yates, died of a heroin in September of 2000; when Peaches was only 11 years old. Our condolences to her family and loved ones.
