RIP Mickey Rooney
A massive star in his teens and early-20s for the string of MGM musicals in which he starred alongside Judy Garland, Rooney’s career proved resilient and long, and featured many peaks and valleys; including a notable string of successes in the late-70s/early-80s, such as an Oscar nominated performance in 1979’s The Black Stallion, his Emmy winning turn in the 1981 TV movie Bill, and an acclaimed run on Broadway in the 1979 burlesque revue, Sugar Babies.
A show-biz professional since childhood, Rooney was one of the last living actors to have worked in the silent film era.
