Rachel Dolezal legally changes name to African phrase

Rachel Dolezal, the former NAACP chapter president who pretended to be black, changed her full name in October to an African phrase, according to court documents in Spokane, Wash.

Dolezal now goes by Nkechi Amare Diallo.

Nkechi is short for Nkechinyere, which is derived from the Igbo word for “gift of God” in Nigeria. Diallo also originated in Africa and means “bold.”
