An extra layer of intrigue in this trade: Bill Peters was hired by the Flames as head coach after opting out of his contract with the Hurricanes after the season. So he knows Hanifin and Lindholm quite well.
This is the second time in three years that Hamilton, 25, has been traded at the NHL draft. He was acquired by the Flames from the Boston Bruins in 2015 for three draft picks. In 245 games with Calgary, Hamilton had 42 goals and 95 assists.
He skated all 82 games last season, averaging 21:32 in ice time. The issues with Hamilton, for Calgary, however, is his $5.75 million cap hit…

After a weekend meeting Jonas’ family at his cousin’s wedding in New Jersey earlier this month, Chopra decided it was time to introduce her rumored new beau to her world. The couple jetted off to India together, where a source tells ET Jonas will meet Chopra’s mother, Madhu, for the first time.

The Boston Celtics had only one pick Thursday night in the 2018 NBA Draft.
They made the most of it, according to the experts.
The Celtics selected Texas A&M big man Robert Williams with the 27th overall pick, which some analysts considered a steal late in the first round. Williams comes with red flags, namely questions about his work ethic and past off-court issues, but there’s no denying the 20-year-old’s upside, particularly on the defensive end.
NESN.com’s Logan Mullen handed out grades to each of the 30 NBA teams after the draft and gave the Celtics a B+. That obviously is a solid mark, and he’s not alone in being impressed by Boston’s draft-night handling, as others also praised Danny Ainge and Co. for what they did (and didn’t do).
Here are some Celtics draft grades we’ve compiled from various sources, along with each analyst’s explanation of why they like Boston taking Williams at No. 27:
Reid Forgrave, CBS Sports: A+ The Celtics get the defensive-minded, elite-rebounding big man they needed. He’s a great athlete who can defend in a lot of styles. Could he be the American Clint Capela? The “steal of the draft” label could be his.
Sean Deveney, Sporting News: A The Celtics attempted to trade up into the top five in hopes of landing a young big man to develop, and instead, young developable big man Robert Williams fell to Boston at No. 27. This is a guy who was projected to go from pick Nos. 11-15.
It’s the kind of lucky draft-day break the Celtics would get when Red Auerbach was running the team, which might explain why, when Danny Ainge emerged from the team’s war room, he was two inches shorter, lost three inches off his hairline and sounded like Peter Falk when he spoke.
The day XXXTENTACION was shot and killed (June 18), many internet detectives quickly pointed fingers at fellow Florida rapper Soldier Kidd as the culprit. He denied the allegations at the time, and now, following the arrest of a suspect on June 21, Soldier Kidd took to Instagram to tell the world he believes he’s owed an apology.
A post shared by Triple X (@soldier.kidd) on Jun 21, 2018 at 3:20pm PDT
In the video, Soldier Kidd is seen with Soldier Jojo as he speaks his piece: “I feel like I deserve an apology from all y’all.” He continues, “All the celebrities that tried to promote that I killed this man. All y’all was wrong. R.I.P. to X and…
“Please feel free to be whoever it is you choose to be in this room tonight,” Harry Styles told the crowd at his sold-out show at New York’s Madison Square Garden Thursday night, as he strummed his guitar. The guy takes his own advice. He draped himself in the rainbow flag and the bi pride flag as he vamped through the One Direction classic “What Makes You Beautiful.” For his biggest solo hit, he offered a dedication: “This song is for anyone out there who needs it. This is ‘Sign of the Times.’ Happy Pride!”
So much about Harry’s live mojo has changed since his boy-band days with One Direction, except the most important thing: the way he lights up a room of any size with his superhuman enthusiasm. A year into his solo rebirth, he’s earned his stripes as a master of every rock & roll move, wearing the tradition like it’s a coat he had tailored just for him. The whole night was an emotional onslaught.
How confident is Harry in his rockness these days? Imagine the sheer mindfreakery of playing Van Morrison’s “Madame George” over the speakers – all 10 minutes of it – right before taking the stage, as if he hears a piece of his soul in Van’s compassionate 1968 ballad of a lonesome Belfast drag queen. That’s confidence. That’s cheek. That’s arrogance. That’s a rock star.
Night after night, Harry Styles is taking on the central pop-culture question of our moment: What does it mean to share joy, on a mass level, at a time when every day brings a constant barrage of rage? What does it mean to gather a pop tribe and then treat this tribe with respect and affection? Styles has never been coy about his aggressively inclusive stance – a few nights ago in Philadelphia, he waved a rainbow flag declaring “Make America Gay Again.” (He borrowed it from a fan up front.) But in 2018, when we’re faced with a near-hourly grind of soul-crushing news, when each week presents an America that would have been unimaginable a week ago, what does it mean to replenish your audience to be stronger tomorrow? How can the communal pleasure of a pop show express joy – use joy as a language to communicate – at a time when joy feels like an endangered resource? Every night, he likes to say, “I have one job tonight and that’s to entertain you” – but these days, “entertain” takes on a new meaning.
Those questions were built into every moment of his show – especially the intimate moments when it was just Harry and a guitar, digging into the excellent songs on his solo debut, which still holds up to heavy listening a year later. He strutted and preened to “Kiwi” in his white Gucci floral suit with flared bell-bottoms; he whispered in…
Johnny Depp’s former business managers may have made a mistake when they claimed in court documents that he spends $30,000 a month on wine, because according to the actor, his monthly vino allowance far surpasses a measly 30 grand.
The details of Pirates of the Caribbean star’s financial expenditures were laid bare in a court filing from his former managers at The Management Group (TMG). The February filing came in response to a $25 million fraud lawsuit Depp unleashed on TMG the month prior.
Depp claimed in his initial complaint that his managers’ negligence had cost him millions, but in their response, TMG painted him as a compulsive spender who blew his $650 million fortune on mansions, yachts, cars, collectables and booze.
“It’s insulting to say that I spent $30,000 on wine,” Depp said. “Because it was far more.”
He also took issue with another TMG claim concerning the cost of shooting his friend and famed journalist Hunter S. Thompson’s ashes out of a cannon. TMG claimed the send-off cost $3 million, but Depp…
