Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s Girlfriend, Wrote a Personal Essay from Her Suits Trailer
Meghan Markle, who, as we are all well aware, is currently dating Prince Harry, recently wrapped the sixth season of her show, Suits—and Markle, we now know, spent some of that time on set (perhaps with a brief break for googling “kensington palace + nearby coffeeshops”) writing an essay, which she contributed to Elle UK, that explores her feelings about the complicated dynamic between her acting career and her charity work. (“I’m sitting in my trailer with my mom in Toronto, Canada,” it begins.)
She writes that, initially, she never would have imagined she’d one day be starring on a popular show; “[My mom and I] never would have dreamed that this would be my reality,” she says. She goes on to describe a notable moment, in Rwanda, where she was doing work at a refugee camp, there as an “advocate for UN Women,” and she got an e-mail from her managers about the BAFTA Awards (“I had never been and had always romanticized it”).
