Lady Gaga to be Joining the Cast of ‘American Horror Story’
Ms. Gaga — who was already buzzing heavily this week due to her triumphant Oscars ceremony performance on Sunday (which you can see below) — will be a series regular in this fall’s edition of the popular horror anthology program.
Each season of AHS tells a standalone story independent from the program’s other seasons, more easily allowing for one season commitments from cast members. Still, a surprising and inspired move on the Grammy winning diva’s part.
Gaga, in addition to being known for the heavy melodrama and theatrics of her stage performances, has had minor acting roles in such films as Men in Black 3, Machete Kills, and Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For; the latter two of which were directed by Robert Rodriguez. The director recently told E! that the “Paparazzi” songstress could be a film star if she wished. “She would be fantastic. The camera loves her. She’s a great performer. She’s performed twice for me now and I was blown away by her discipline. She studied acting before she became a singer and you could really tell.”
Gaga has worked with AHS co-creator Ryan Murphy previously on his other hugely beloved show, Glee; allowing the use of her songs on the Fox hit. “I love Glee,” she said in 2010. “I love the cast and the creativity of the writers. I went to a musical theater school and used to dream that some day the students would be singing my songs.”
Deeper details are not quite known of what the next season of AHS will hold, but it is known that it will be taking place in and/or around a hotel.
