Jimmy Fallon Fronts CSNY (or Rather, CSNF)

Fallon and Christie
On Monday night’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy welcomed legendary supergroup Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young to the program… Or at least mostly.

But let’s back up for a second: Jimmy first took to the stage to do his well-worn “Neil Young sings a contemporary pop song, and isn’t this oh-so incongruous?” bit (as he’s previously done with “Party in the U.S.A.” and Whip My Hair”). This time attempting to subvert Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy”.

We like Jimmy, and have blogged of him in here plenty, but we do believe that his frequently trotted out impersonation of the great Neil Young is wildly overrated, and that in general this is a lazy joke. Alas, Mr. Fallon has no reason to care what we think as he’s had this bit’s quality confirmed by no lesser authorities than Neil’s most famous collaborators; David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash. All of whom joined him onstage for this CSNY “reunion.”

Folks seemed to like it, so good for the nice folks.
