Gal Gadot’s paycheck for starring in ‘Wonder Woman’ is smaller than you think
Gal Gadot’s “Wonder Woman” salary wasn’t all that low for a new actress just finding her big break.
The entertainment world blew up Tuesday after the Daily Dot reported that the leading lady’s salary for the record-breaking summer blockbuster was just $300,000, but the salary is not that rare for an unknown actor being cast in the role of a famed superhero.
The only superheroes who end up receiving the major payouts have already established their careers in other films.
The former model reached the agreement with DC Comics by signing on for a three-film deal for “Batman v Superman,” “Wonder Woman” and the upcoming “Justice League” movie at just $300,000 apiece.
While many social media users are chalking up the less than $1 million paycheck to the unfair gender pay gap in Hollywood, but it may not necessarily be the case — Chris Evans only raked in $300,000 for his role in the first “Captain America” in 2011.
As part of a similar multi-picture deal that was similar to Gadot’s, Evans later made around $7 million for his role in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which was his third film in the series.
Chris Hemsworth also made roughly the same for his first try as “Thor” — reportedly raking in just $200,000 for his first major leading role in 2011.
Gadot, 32, could land herself a much better deal in a “Wonder Woman” sequel just as Evans found for himself as he rode the wave of the franchise’s success (which grossed even less than “Wonder Woman” thus far).
