Bengals Agree to New $115M Deal with Andy Dalton

Andy Dalton
NFL quarterback Andy Dalton recently expressed his confidence that he and the Cincinnati Bengals would soon be agreeing upon a new deal. On Monday they did precisely that, and the $115 million, six-year deal potentially works out quite well for both parties.

It is being reported that the Bengals will also be extending the contracts of wide receiver A.J. Green and linebacker Vontaze Burfict; who — as Dalton had been doing — are still playing on their rookie contracts.

Dalton’s deal is said to be structured similarly to the one the San Francisco 49ers recently struck with Colin Kaepernick. It’s basically a “pay as you go” arrangement, which puts the team on the hook for relatively little money guaranteed, and creates incentive for Dalton to perform in order to earn the contract’s full value.
