As a performer, and pop culture entity, Andy Kaufman (PeekYou profile here) was known for nothing so much as he was his perpetual subversion of audience expectations, and gleeful, incessant pulling of the masses’ collective leg. So infrequently, in fact, was what you saw what you got with him, that many wondered when he died, apparently of a rare form of lung cancer in 1984, if in fact he’d passed on at all.

In the over 29 years since Kaufman was believed to have succumbed to cancer, speculation has periodically flared up around the notion of him having faked his own death; something which he’d discussed wanting to do over the years. His closest friends and family have long assured the public, however, that while that would have been a hell of a prank (albeit an incredibly illegal one), Andy was very much gone.

Now, however, it seems that Andy’s brother, Michael, either actually believes Andy is alive, after all, or Michael involved himself in a highly dark and amusing prank befitting his brother’s memory. Click through here to TMZ to see the video and get the details.
