Winter is now well underway and February is very nearly halfway through. Heart-shaped boxes, Kewpie dolls, and bonbons are beginning to dot store shelves, and talk of love is in the air.

Resort not to bitterness, however, lonely hearts; the non-coupled-off among you/us still have a couple of weeks left to find a sweetheart for this year’s installment of Valentine’s Day.

While perhaps reduced to nothing more than a “Hallmark holiday” these days — and one with roots to arguably be found in a decadent and disturbing ancient Roman feast called Lupercalia — it is still a fine time to let your better half and/or sweetheart know how much you care. If you have one, that is.
