USC vs. Washington State: Scores, live updates from battle of undefeated Pac-12 teams

Washington State is set to host Sam Darnold and USC in a battle of undefeated Pac-12 teams Friday night. Both enter the matchup with 4-0 records.

No. 5 USC heads into the road contest coming off a 30-20 victory over California. In that game, Darnold threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Stephen Carr added 82 yards on the ground as well as a score. Darnold, a Heisman Trophy contender, has tallied 1,225 passing yards and 10 total touchdowns on the season.

No. 16 Washington State topped Nevada 45-7 last week behind five touchdowns from quarterback Luke Falk. Falk has 14 touchdowns and just one interception through the Cougars’ first four games.

12:48 a.m.: Falk takes a huge hit on a third-and-14 pass. But, he just manages to get the ball away and finds Renard Bell for a 25-yard gain, moving Washington St. into USC territory.

12:44 a.m.: USC is called for an offensive pass interference on its first possession of the half and then goes three-and-out.

12:40 a.m.: Washington St. coach Mike Leach’s interview at the end of the second quarter didn’t last very long:

12:38 a.m.: We’re back for the second half at Martin Stadium. USC will start the first possession of the third quarter at its own 25-yard line.

Halftime: USC 17, Washington St. 17

12:19 a.m.: USC and Washington St. finish the game’s first 30 minutes tied at 17. Darnold threw an interception in the half and completed just seven passes for 73 yards, while Jones rushed for 118 yards on seven carriers. Falk was 16-of-24 on pass attempts, tallying 184 yards for Washington St. He also added an interception.

12:15 a.m.: Touchdown Washington St. The Cougars string together a 12-play, 94-yard drive and tie the score at 17-17 just before halftime. On a second-and-6, Falk attempted a pass in the end zone to Martin. Falk’s throw fell incomplete, but USC defensive back Jack Jones was called for pass interference, moving the ball to the 2-yard line. Two plays later, Jamal Morrow ran it in for a 1-yard score.

12:02 a.m.: USC goes three-and-out and Washington St. will take over at its own six following a 62-yard punt by Reid Budrovich.

12:01 a.m.: Washington St.’s drive stalls and its forced to punt. USC gets the ball back looking to add to its advantage before halftime.

11:56 p.m.: Falk finds Tavares Martin Jr. for a 15-yard reception and a first down. The completion was Falk’s 1,188 of his career, breaking the all-time Pac-12 mark.
