For those of us that watch the NFL, which would be more than 60% of Americans, it was surprising to hear the news that Megatron (aka Calvin Johnson) was contemplating retirement. Over the course of his career, as any fantasy footballer can attest, he’s put up hall-of-fame numbers, made many a sporting news highlight reel, and been nothing short of an athletic amazement. However, this news coming on the heels of a new year causes

us to pause to consider a deeper meaning.

Be sure to take the time to smell the roses because they too are fleeting. Take the time to appreciate what is good and deserving of praise in this world and in your life. Be sure to not only enjoy but acknowledge a moment, a person, an event.

People, places, events come and go and are replaced, but be sure to always take stock of the present and see that it is not all bad… but indeed there is much good. Sometimes it can be as inconsequential as a professional athlete thinking of calling it a career and move on that brings this into focus. The point is to be aware of the points. Happy New Year!!
