49ers contact usual suspects McDaniels, Lynn, plus GM candidates

The great thing about the 49ers firing three head coaches in three seasons: They can skip the small-talk stuff during their next round of interviews.

“Obviously, for better or for worse, I know some of the candidates,” CEO Jed York said Monday. “I’ve certainly interviewed some of the candidates in previous years.”

This leads us to Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Bills interim head coach Anthony Lynn, who both could have their second interviews with the 49ers in the past two years.

The 49ers have scheduled an interview with McDaniels, 40, this weekend at the Patriots facility, a source said. McDaniels, who interviewed with the 49ers in 2015 before they hired Jim Tomsula, is available…
