When Gabourey Sidibe decides to do something, she really goes for it.
The Empire star elected to have weight-loss surgery last year and has absolutely no regrets about doing it. Sidibe opens up about the big decision in her upcoming memoir, This Is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare, and to People.
“I just didn’t want to worry,” Sidibe, 33, tells the magazine of her decision to get laproscopic bariatric surgery after she and her older brother Ahmed, 34, were diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. “I truly didn’t want to worry about all the effects that go along with diabetes. I genuinely [would] worry all the time about losing my toes.”
Sidibe rose to fame after appearing in the hit film Precious. Aware of her size, Sidibe tried to lose weight for 10 years before ultimately pursuing surgery in May 2016. More

FORT MYERS — David Price’s second year in Boston is off to a very concerning start.
Price is planning to visit with Dr. James Andrews, the orthopedic surgeon well known for performing Tommy John surgery, and Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who operated on Tom Brady’s knee, to get a second opinion on his sore throwing elbow. Price first started feeling the soreness on Wednesday after throwing a simulated game on Tuesday.
Red Sox manager John Farrell said Price had an MRI on Wednesday and the results were sent to Dr. Peter Asnis that night. But, according to Farrell, the doctor was in surgery all day and had yet to go over them as of Thursday morning.
Price has been scratched from his scheduled start on Sunday, when he was supposed to make his Grapefruit League debut.
“He came out of a sim game the other day with increased soreness, so we’re holding him out,” Farrell said. “He’s gone through some soreness in the forearm/elbow area in previous spring trainings, but this one has a little more intensity to it.”
Price reported feeling improvement on Thursday — “an encouraging sign,” Farrell said — but he left JetBlue Park before talking to reporters.
“We’re taking every precaution,” Farrell said. “We have a little history here with David, with what his progression through spring training has been. He’s battled this seemingly in every spring training. We…

Smith suffered the injury while swiping down on Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo during the first half of Tuesday’s 114-108 overtime road victory against the Bucks.
The 13-year veteran, who signed a four-year, $57 million extension with the Cavs in the offseason, was averaging 8.6 points on 33.7 percent shooting this season — the second-worst scoring average and worst shooting percentage of his career.

Coach John Fox announced Cutler will have surgery to repair the labrum in his right shoulder, an outcome the quarterback hoped to avoid. Eight days after Fox said Cutler’s injury was not season-ending, it turns out to be exactly so.
With the procedure now scheduled for Saturday, it’s quite possible — probable, even — that Cutler has played his final game for the Bears.
In the weeks and months ahead, this regime, which inherited Cutler, must decide whether they want the veteran to remain part of a rebuilding effort that has sputtered to an 8-19 record since 2015.
Their options don’t appear to be compelling. Cutler turns 34 in April, is scheduled to make between $12.5 and $15 million next season, and he will be coming off surgery on his throwing shoulder.
But Cutler’s contract contains no deadlines that would force the Bears into action. They could keep him on the roster well into 2017 and let the player acquisition cycle evolve while fluidly evaluating their options.
It would not be surprising if general manager Ryan Pace held out hope of trading Cutler, given how Pace has salvaged late-round draft picks in separate trades involving players he was determined to part with, receiver Brandon Marshall and tight end Martellus Bennett.
Cutler’s trade value, though, figures to diminish because of his surgery. The team and the player hoped to avoid such a drastic measure because of the rehabilitation required and how that will last…
