MTV VMAs – 2015 Nominations (UPDATED)

VMAs - Miley, Taylor, Ed, Bey, Kendrick
While it’s never been quite clear how nominations or winners are determined — or for that matter whether it’s the performer or the nominated video’s director who is actually winning the award — MTV‘s 30-odd-year old Video Music Awards show somehow remains culturally relevant.

This year’s ceremony will be hosted by a certain former Ms. Montana, whose career rocketed from mere superstardom to supernova after she danced around in a bathing suit while making a funny face at the ceremony two years ago. All pop-culture-savvy eyes will surely be on Los Angeles, California’s Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live, on August 30, taking note and tweeting of whatever attention grabbing antics transpire.

UPDATE- 8/7/15: Check out host Miley Cyrus, in the below teaser, still wearing bathing suits and making funny faces, to the delight of the American masses (more can be found at MTV’s YouTube page).

As this entry’s opening suggests, the awards themselves are never really the focus of the evening — that being a combination of performers and presenters, and of course the above-referenced hijinks — but awards are all the same given out. Below is the full list of this year’s nominees.
