Japanese Breakfast – “Boyish”
Japanese Breakfast, a.k.a. Philadelphia musician Michelle Zauner, has followed up excellent first single “Machinist” with another highlight from her forthcoming album Soft Sounds From Another Planet. “Boyish” is equal parts moody and dreamy; Zauner describes it in a press release as a “sort of grandiose Roy Orbison-esque ballad.” It’s a substantial re-work of a song Zauner wrote and first recorded with her old band, Little Big League, for their 2014 album Tropical Jinx.
