Clay Aiken to Run for Congress?

Clay Aiken (PeekYou profile here) — best known as the 2nd place finisher of American Idol‘s second season — may soon join the ranks of Gopher from The Love Boat and Cooter from The Dukes of Hazzard, as an entertainer who found a second life in the legislative branch of the U.S. Government.

Seems Clay’s going to run for Congress in the second district of his home state of North Carolina. A video at Clay’s website shows him explaining; “I am not a politician. I never want to be one. But I do want to bring back, at least to my corner of North Carolina, the idea that someone can go to Washington to represent all the people, whether they voted for you or not.”
